Celebrate the flavours of Korean makgeolli at Makkoli Mingle, a one-day food and drink festival at Odem on Saturday 5 April 2025.

Raise a cup to Korea’s finest makgeolli at Makkoli Mingle, a one-day festival celebrating the artistry of the popular fermented rice beverage. Organised by Singapore’s first artisanal makgeolli bar Odem, this immersive event will introduce guests to exclusive small-batch brews straight from some of Korea’s most revered breweries — many of which have never been available outside of Korea.

The main event of Makkoli Mingle will be the Makkoli Walkabout, where festival goers can explore four themed tasting zones — Fruity, Floral, Umami, and Rice & Grain — and sample unique brews. Expect rare labels like Ellyeop Pyunjoo, a coveted, small-batch makgeolli crafted through generations, and Jiran Jigyo Brewery’s farm-to-bottle creations, known for their homegrown ingredients.

The walkabout is priced at S$58++ for six pours, with an optional four-cup add-on available at an additional SGD36++.

Then there is The Makkoli Pairing Experience, a 75-minute guided tasting session led by Chef Yumi Bae and Odem’s sommelier that pairs a curated selection of four distinct makgeolli with gourmet bites. Highlights include the Brioche Bun with Gamtae Seaweed Butter matched with a creamy, unfiltered Jiran Jigyo Takju, and the Kalbi Sando Slider, enhanced by the sweet-tart vibrancy of Kkotbit Makkoli.
