Radiant Spring Garden, Golden Autumn Orchard, Exotic Spice Grove, and Deep Forest Riches. New exhibitions at Gardens by the Bay? No, just whisky expressions from the newly released Singleton ‘Gardens of Abundance’ travel retail collection.

Travelling any time soon? If so, make sure you drop in at duty free – renowned single malt Scotch whisky brand The Singleton has launched an entirely new range of whiskies for travel retail that you may want to take a look at. Collectively called the Singleton ‘Gardens of Abundance’, this is a set of four distinctive whiskies each of which sees a different cask management approach to create varying taste profiles.

Officially introduced this summer, the Singleton ‘Gardens of Abundance’ exclusively travel retail range comprises of Radiant Spring Garden, Golden Autumn Orchard, Exotic Spice Grove, and Deep Forest Riches, all of which are non-age statement whiskies sourced from Diageo’s Speyside-based Glendullan distillery. Each whisky in the collection is a tribute to Mother Earth, drawing inspiration from the world’s fertile grounds and ecosystems.

(Which, we hasten to add, are all under dire stress from human overconsumption and corporate greed. But that’s another story.)

Singleton Gardens of Abundance Radiant Spring Garden

“Inspired by seasonality, we developed flavours that evoke specific times and places. We focused on environments that inspire emotions and aromas, influencing not only the whisky but also the naming, recipes, and wood types used for aging,” shared Dr. Craig Wilson, The Singleton Master Blender and the visionary behind the collection.

“The first variant, Radiant Spring Garden, reflects the terroir of the Glendullan
distillery and its surroundings. As the collection progresses, it incorporates more exotic influences. The whiskies evolve from light, grassy notes to mature orchards, sweet spice groves, and rich forest woodiness. Opening a bottle from this range is like stepping into a secret garden, with aromas of blooming flowers, fresh herbs, and ripe fruits, promising a unique sensory journey,” he added.

Singleton Golden Autumn Orchard

What we get are four single malt whiskies all of which sound like playgrounds for Elves, or the latest exhibitions at Gardens by the Bay. Less evident is the fact that each sees the use of different casks to layer on flavours.

For example the Radiant Spring Garden leans purely on select American white oak casks, which allows the Glendullan’s fruity house style to shine through. The Golden Autumn Orchard on the other hand uses both American white oak and ex-bourbon casks, the latter adding on rich vanilla and coconut notes to the mix.

Singleton Exotic Spice Grove

Then there’s Exotic Spice Grove. This expression employs three cask types: first matured in ex-wine and rejuvenated casks, it’s later vatted together in reserve oak casks to marry the flavours. Finally there’s Deep Forest Riches, which also uses three cask types (but features four fortified wines) – Palo Cortado, Marsala, and another that’s been seasoned with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso for added complexity.

The Singleton ‘Gardens of Abundance’ collection is now available at Changi Airport, and also showcased at an exclusive airside pop-up at Changi Airport Terminal 3 that runs till 21 August. The range will subsequently be made available at Delhi and Heathrow from August 2024, followed by Hainan, Dubai, and Malaysia in the following months.
