Gaggan claims the coveted top spot on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 alongside eight other Bangkok restaurants, demonstrating the Thai capital’s gastronomic dominance in the region.

Celebrated chef Gaggan Anand’s eponymous restaurant Gaggan in Bangkok has been named the best restaurant in Asia this year, according to Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025. The progressive fine-dining Indian restaurant was crowned at a glittering live awards ceremony in Seoul earlier this week, which saw it lead a pack of outstanding restaurants from 16 cities across Asia challenging for honours.

Bangkok cemented its position as a leading fine dining destination in Asia with a total of nine entries including Gaggan. They include Nusara (No.6), which retained its position as Chef Thitid ‘Ton’ Tassanakajohn continuing to pay homage to his heritage with creative spins on ancient family recipes, contemporary German restaurant Sühring swinging in at No.11, while Chef-owner Pichaya ‘Pam’ Soontornyanakij’s modern Thai-Chinese eatery Potong placed at No.13.

Indeed, Gaggan Anand copped for himself an extra entry with one of his latest projects in Bangkok, Gaggan at Louis Vuitton, debuting at No.31.

Host city of the awards this year, Seoul, landed four entries.

Macau’s sole entry, Chef Tam’s Seasons, rocketed to a lofty No.9 spot from its previous position at No.49 in 2024. Headed by Chef Tam Kwok Fung, the Wynn Palace Macau restaurant is best known for its refined heritage Cantonese flavours inspired by the 24 Chinese solar seasons.

“I’m deeply humbled and grateful that Chef Tam’s Seasons is putting Macau’s vibrant culinary scene on the world map. “This year’s ranking presents a remarkable tapestry of dining establishments across 16 cities, with seven new entries showcasing the exceptional talent and innovative spirit that define Asia’s culinary landscape,” declared William Drew, Director of Content at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.
