Emirates takes its celebrated Business Class dining experience to soaring new heights with champagne pairings in collaboration with Moët & Chandon.
Inflight dining can be a challenge at 40,000 feet above sea level, where the cabin air is dry and taste buds are dulled by altitude. That’s when most airlines simply settle for competence… except for the world’s best airlines. They strive for excellence at every altitude.
Take Emirates, for example. The Dubai-based luxury carrier recently announced a bold collaboration with Moët & Chandon to take its lauded Business Class inflight dining experience to another level.
The lauded airline’s latest culinary initiative? An airborne celebration of refinement with a globe-spanning, champagne-fuelled tasting menu, co-created by Moët & Chandon’s Michelin-starred Head Chef Jean Michel Bardet (pictured below, right), and Emirates’ own Vice President of Culinary Design, Doxis Bekris (below, left).
The result is a glittering set of 18 new starters and mains, each meticulously paired with one of Moët & Chandon’s celebrated cuvées — from the Grand Vintage 2016 to the exuberant Rosé Impérial — now being served onboard most medium to long-haul Emirates flights worldwide.
As you can expect from Emirates, this is not your typical airline meal. Think poached scallops with green melon, lemon gel, and roasted almonds — a delicately salty composition elevated by the radiant bouquet of Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2016. Or, for a textural revelation, the silken tofu with asparagus and cashew cream (pictured below) gets a sprightly lift from the Brut Impérial’s bright minerality.
For mains, high-flying epicureans can revel in roasted duck with aubergine and raz el hanout couscous, which finds an electric partner in the Rosé Impérial, its cherry notes playing up the aromatic spice. Otherwise the roasted turkey with sage jus and fennel is the kind of slow-roasted classic you’d expect in a Parisian brasserie — but at cruising altitude — except here it is harmonised with the freshness of the Grand Vintage 2016.
Each dish in this expansive Emirates x Moët & Chandon collaboration is marked with a crown icon on the menu, which guests can preview before take off.
Call it altitude dining. Call it high-flying hedonism. This is certainly a new level of stratospheric indulgence. But it also represents a different standard of thoughtful inflight dining, and showcase how wine pairing isn’t just for show, but engineered for pleasure even in the trickiest of culinary environments. It also underscores Emirates’ commitment to being more than just a carrier — but also a culinary ambassador of sorts.
This latest chapter from Emirates — pairing dishes specifically for Business Class guests — means you don’t need to fly in the front row to experience the sparkle of something extraordinary.
And one worth booking a seat for.
