Speyside single malt whisky brand The Glen Grant has unveiled its prestigious Glasshouse Collection, a permanent core range consisting of three whiskies that celebrate exceptional aging.

Here’s one from The Glen Grant for those of us who enjoy older whiskies. Actually, there are three. The Speyside-based single malt Scotch whisky producer has pulled the covers off its new old Glasshouse Collection, consisting of their award-winning 21 Year Old along with its new 25 Year Old and 30 Year Old releases.

While they are not quite as aged as the emblematic Glen Grant Dennis Malcolm 60th Anniversary Edition – which comes in at, you guessed it, 60 Years – the whiskies in the Glasshouse Collection are effectively the oldest aged expressions in its permanent collection.

If you’re curious about the name, the new Glen Grant Glasshouse Collection is actually a hat tip to one of its owners early in the distillery’s over 180-year history. James ‘The Major’ Grant, who took over in the 1870s, was an avid traveller. Voyaging across the world from Southern Africa to the Himalayas, Grant would collect flowers and plants and bring them back home to Scotland where he would nurture and grow them in his vast Victorian-style glasshouse.

The distillery waxes lyrical about how each of the three whiskies reflect the light of day from the first of dawn till the moonlight night, but it’s really more of a metaphor than anything else. The rare liquid within each bottle? That’s the true indication of time.

The introduction of the new Glen Grant Glasshouse Collection comes with some bittersweet news, as legendary master distiller Dennis Malcolm OBE officially retires with this as his final collection. Distillery director Greig Stables takes over the reins from Malcolm as The Glen Grant’s new master distiller.

“Working alongside Dennis for nearly two decades has been an incredible journey and I’m deeply grateful for his insight and guidance,” shared Stables about his tutelage under Scotland’s longest serving whisky legend. “I’m honoured to lead The Glen Grant into this new chapter and am excited and enthused for what is to come.”

“Now as we introduce these rare and aged whiskies, I am thrilled we can showcase how exceptionally The Glen Grant spirit ages over time, maintaining its character and integrity,” Stables added.

The Glen Grant Glasshouse Collection will be available in select markets worldwide, including the U.S, U.K., and Asia beginning in 2024. In Singapore, the Collection – with the exception of 30-Year-Old that is scheduled to arrive in Q1 2025 – will be sold directly via Campari Group’s RARE Division sales at [email protected] or on https://rarespirits.asia/.
