The culinary scene in Hong Kong and Macau just got its annual award glow-up with the unveiling of the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2025.
The MICHELIN Guide has just releasing its latest edition for Hong Kong and Macau, awarding stars to 95 restaurants — 76 in Hong Kong and 19 in Macau — alongside 76 Bib Gourmand establishments and 89 MICHELIN Selected eateries. With the awarding of new stars to highly-deserved venues, the 17th edition of the prestigious food guide not only cements Hong Kong’s reputation as a global gastronomic powerhouse, but also spotlights Macau’s astronomical rise as dining destination.
The headliner in this year’s guide has to be Amber. Helmed by Chef Richard Ekkebus, the contemporary French dining destination has been awarded three MICHELIN stars, for its innovative approach to dairy-free haute cuisine, along with a coveted MICHELIN Green star for its unerring commitment to sustainability. Its signature dishes such as aka uni and Ping Yuen chicken offer a masterful showcase of technique and flavour, helping the restaurant secure its place among Hong Kong’s culinary elite.

With Amber’s elevation, Hong Kong now boasts a total of seven three-starred restaurants. They include highly-lauded stalwarts such as 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo – Bombana, Sushi Shikon, and Caprice, all of which retained their three-star status. Then there’s classic Cantonese restaurant T’ang Court at The Langham, The Hong Kong, which has kept its three stars for a full decade.
Over at Macau, Jade Dragon and Robuchon au Dôme similarly maintained their three-star status. Indeed Macau, while better known for its opulent high-end hotels and busy casinos, is making its intentions as a key regional fine-dining destination. One of the latest must-visits is Chef Tam’s Seasons in Wynn Palace Macau, which saw itself promoted to two MICHELIN stars in just two years in operation. Headed by Chef Tam Kwok Fung, the restaurant is known for its refined Cantonese flavours inspired by the 24 Chinese solar seasons.
With the promotion of Chef Tam’s Seasons, Macau is now home to six two-star establishments.

The MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2025 has also minted seven fresh additions to its one-star category, with three from Hong Kong and four from Macau. Among them is Ami, which brings a refined take on casual French dining with its standout Wagyu beef tartare and yellow chicken. Then there’s Plaisance by Mauro Colagreco, which impresses with a seafood-centric menu featuring exquisite house-made sauces, while Tuber Umberto Bombana continues the legacy of truffle maestro Umberto Bombana with its masterful Italian offerings.
Among Macau’s new one-star additions include Aji, where bold Japanese flavours meet French finesse, as well as Mizumi, a refined shrine to Japanese favourites such as tempura, teppanyaki, and sushi.
Sustainability continues to take centre stage at the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2025. Five restaurants retained their MICHELIN Green Stars this year; Hong Kong’s Amber, Feuille, Mora, and Roganic continue to lead the way in eco-conscious dining, while Macau’s UTM Educational Restaurant continues its charge for sustainable practices in the region.
As for the ancillary awards, MICHELIN Guide this year awarded Carlito Chiu from Andō with the MICHELIN Sommelier Award for his innovative approach to wine pairings, while Frankie Wong of Ankôma received the MICHELIN Young Chef Award. Then there’s Winnie Zhang from Wing Lei, who was recognised with the MICHELIN Service Award for her impeccable hospitality.
In total, MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2025 listed 95 starred restaurants — 76 in Hong Kong and 19 in Macau — alongside 76 Bib Gourmand establishments and 89 MICHELIN Selected eateries. This year’s selection underscores the region’s gastronomic depth and diversity, celebrating everything from street food gems to haute cuisine.
If there’s any time to visit Hong Kong and Macau for their dining scenes, the time is now.
