Revolution, the new wine bistro concept from the team behind RVLT, trades in its grungy, graffiti-streaked roots for a calm, design-led dining room — a reinvention that swaps chaos for craft without losing its rebellious DNA.
First, let’s first be clear — Revolution is not RVLT 2.0. If you’re a long time fan of the pioneering wine bar, this second act may not be what you’d expect.
That point is made immediately clear the moment you step into its new home on Henderson Road. Where RVLT throbbed with grungy, graffiti-stained irreverence, Revolution settles into something altogether more measured: a serene, hygge-inspired café-style dining room dreamt up in collaboration with Danish design icon Fritz Hansen. It’s a radical departure in mood, as if the wine-fuelled enfant terrible of Carpenter Street has traded its ripped jeans for preppy college wear.
This is not to say that Revolution has lost its edge. You’ll find that the DNA of iconoclastic RVLT remains largely intact: instinct over orthodoxy, flavour over formality, natural wine over big-name labels. Yes, this was after all the pioneering bar that was trying its darnest to convince a Burgundy-loving and Champagne-swilling Singapore wine scene that a little barnyard funk in wine can be acceptable.

But that exuberance is now played out in a space of sculpted calm — all earth and terracotta, soft concrete, and quietly confident Danish chairs. The chaos has been dialled down, replaced by warmth and craft.
There’s still a hint of rebellion, but it’s all grown-up.
Revolution’s wine programme, for sure, retains the edge that once put RVLT on the global wine bar map. The wines — many natural, some experimental, all carefully curated — are poured at Revolution with the same missionary zeal Alvin Gho and Ian Lim honed at RVLT. But here, the bar hums with calm rather than clamour especially during the day.
The food mirrors this shift. Where RVLT once thrived on freewheeling small plates to soak up pét-nat, the fun-loving menu at Revolution leans into comfort dressed in clever twists. Indeed the focus feels firmly on food first, with wine as soulful companion rather than anarchic centrepiece.

Think Salted Egg Carbonara Spaghetti, featuring oodles of creamy umami goodness, or Chicken Rendang Ravioli, with the pasta parcels enrobed in a deeply flavourful spiced gravy. Or how about Hua Diao White Clams Linguine, which eschews the usual white wine in a classic vongole for Chinese shaoxing wine? Thankfully, they come across playful without being flippant, and hearty without being heavy-handed.
We’re mighty pleased that the infamous Chicken Nuggets from RVLT resurfaces at Revolution, and likewise the much-beloved, and once off-menu, cult favourite that is the Patty Melt.
Right now Revolution is open mostly for lunch, although it’s thrown out limited slots for dinner by reservation on certain days.
Revolution may be a wine bistro born from RVLT’s ashes, but it doesn’t try to replicate its chaotic energy. Instead, it stages a surprising sequel: still rebellious, but with the volume turned down, the setting brightened, and the emphasis on food as the main act. It’s a reinvention that feels less like a revolution than a revelation — that sometimes the most radical move is restraint.
