Where whisky meets haute couture, Johnnie Walker’s latest Vault release — The Couture Blend by Olivier Rousteing — proves that age and attitude can exist in the same bottle.

There are whiskies that age gracefully. There are also those that strut.

Then there’s Johnnie Walker’s latest release — ‘The Couture Blend’, the second chapter in its collaboration with French fashion provocateur Olivier Rousteing, which just happens to  do both with unapologetic flair. Unveiled under the brand’s ultra-luxury Johnnie Walker Vault banner, the limited-edition whisky reimagines the boundaries of whisky blending and edgy couture while challenging everything we think we know about whisky.

Paris-based Olivier Rousteing, for those less fashion-inclined amongst us, was creative director of French fashion house Balmain for 14 years; when he was appointed he was just 25, the youngest-ever to take the helm of any maison.

Johnnie Walker Vault x Olivier Rousteing The Couture Blend

Rousteing marks his 40th birthday this year, and this milestone immortalised in liquid form for the Johnnie Walker Vault x Olivier Rousteing ‘The Couture Blend’. Johnnie Walker Master Blender Dr Emma Walker folded whiskies aged at least 40 years into the blend, her composition drawing from just ten barrels selected from a vault of 500 rare casks — including ghost spirits from long-silent distilleries like Port Dundas and Caledonian, layered with 1980s trailblazers from Benrinnes and Cragganmore, and slightly more modern experiments from Cardhu, Roseisle, and Teaninich.

The result? A whisky that’s as architectural as the man it honours: structured yet sensual, classic yet subversive, balancing smoky heritage with tropical, spiced modernity.

But if the liquid speaks Johnnie Walker, the vessel altogether screams Rousteing. The decanter that houses the precious spirit recuts the familiar square Johnnie Walker silhouette into a sculptural crystal statement — broad-shouldered and imposing, much like Rousteing’s own sharply tailored personal sense of style, but also the precise and confident lines he once brought to Balmain.

And then there’s the oversized stopper, which feels more runway finale than drinks cabinet.

The Johnnie Walker x Olivier Rousteing Couture Blend is showcased at the Changi Airport pop=up

Beyond its gleam and glamour, the Johnnie Walker Vault x Olivier Rousteing ‘The Couture Blend’ is a sign of the times: the shifting landscape of luxury whisky, where narrative, design, and lifestyle now blend as seamlessly as malt and grain. Where heritage and modernity work hand-in-hand.

Only 1,500 exist worldwide (and just 39 for Singapore, priced from S$3,988 at Marina Bay Sands and The Whisky Distillery), each more objet d’art than bottle. If you want a peek, you can find the bottle at the ongoing Johnnie Walker Vault pop-up in Terminal 3 of Singapore Changi Airport (airside, alas), where it sits amongst other glorious specimens such as the Johnnie Walker Vault Couture Expression Spring, Summer, Fall Winter; the John Walker & Sons King George V; the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Xordinaire; and of course, the beloved Johnnie Walker Blue Label. The Johnnie Walker Vault pop-up runs till 22 December 2025.
