Basilico debuts its La Cucina Storica dining series with the Kingdom of Sardegna

Basilico at Conrad Singapore Orchard unveils new revolving buffet experience La Cucina Storica that showcases the regional flavours of Italy. Its debut edition spotlights the cuisines of the Kingdom of Sardegna.

We’ve always loved the lavish Italian buffet spread at Basilico, but the signature restaurant of Conrad Singapore Orchard has just upped the taste ante with a bold new culinary theme – La Cucina Storica. This rotating culinary showcase is set to take your palate on a historical grand tour of Italy’s regional food traditions.

The first of the series will shine the spotlight on Sardegna.

For those of us who may not be too attuned to history, the Kingdom of Sardegna existed as a political entity from the late 13th until the mid-19th century under the House of Savoy, until it evolved into what was the Kingdom of Italy, the predecessor of the modern-day Italian republic.

But that’s just history. What we’re interested in is really what they ate. Basilico’s revamped spread is a delicious tribute to the diverse flavours of Sardegna, Liguria, Piemonte, with time-honoured dishes that celebrate the kingdom’s coastal bounty, pastoral traditions, and quite a bit of culinary flair.

From juicy bouncy wagyu beef meatballs in San Marzano tomato sauce and gnochetti sardi drenched in a lamb ragu to Valle d’Aosta bresaola and Piemontese bagna cauda, this is a gastronomic deep dive into Italian culinary history. And make sure you avail yourself to the slow-roasted porceddu, Sardinia’s own specialty of roast suckling pig.

The La Cucina Storica: Kingdom of Sardegna dining experience at Basilico in Conrad Singapore Orchard is available at S$68++ per adult for weekday lunch, S$98++ for dinner, and S$128++ for weekend brunch. Free-flow beverage options, featuring a selection of Ferrari sparkling wine, Italian wines, and beers, start from S$80++ per person. It runs till 31 May 2025.
