The St. Regis Bar Jakarta combines luxurious ambiance, innovative cocktails, impeccable service, and live jazz for the perfect night out in Indonesia’s dynamic capital.
Ensconced within the opulent confines of The St. Regis Jakarta is The St. Regis Bar Jakarta, a hotel bar and lounge quite unlike any other in Indonesia’s vibrant capital city. Combining the timeless elegance of its New York heritage with Jakarta’s edgy energy, it seamlessly fuses old world glamour and modern sophistication over good music and even better cocktails.
Not to mention the famed St. Regis hospitality.
Drawing inspiration from New York’s iconic King Cole Bar, The St. Regis Bar Jakarta is similarly entrancing. Guests are first greeted by a grand hallway upon entering, which opens up to an inner sanctum where the bar takes pride of place at its centre. Emblazoned on one wall is a captivating mural designed by Indonesian graphic designer Eddy Susanto telling a visual story of Indonesia’s rich music history, mirroring in some form King Cole Bar’s own vivid – if sordid – mural.
Hanging above the central bar island is a massive opulent lighting fixture resembling a cacophony of trumpets, a not-so-subtle to the bar’s music focus. During the evenings a live jazz band saunters up the stage in front of Susanto’s masterpiece for their sets, combining familiar swing numbers and popular Disney hits to more contemporary tunes to the delight of patrons.
And of course, there’s the cocktails.
Those familiar with The St. Regis hotels around the world will no doubt be familiar with Astor Bar, their cosy and elegant in-house watering hole. Like the hotels themselves the bars share similar traditions; come at the right time, for example, and you’ll encounter ‘Violet Hour’, their trademark ritual where the head bartender – in this case, Fahri Yusuf – composes and pours for patrons complimentary tasters of their Violet Hour Martini.
Every Astor Bar around the world follows a similar cocktail DNA inspired by the Big Apple, each cocktail laden with an intriguing back story channeled into sections named after New York boroughs. Each bar is allowed to have its own riff on those cocktails, usually a fun twist using local ingredients but still keeping it honest.
It’s the same here here at The St. Regis Bar Jakarta. The latest, New York 2.0, follows that formula.
Like the Cotton Club, a twist on the Old Fashioned using bourbon that’s been infused with jackfruit for a local touch, or Weisse Garden, an Irish Coffee take made with coffee porter and dark cacao bitters as a hat tip to the country’s prodigious coffee industry. Otherwise there’s Batavia Mary, which eschews tabasco in a Bloody Mary for Indonesia’s iconic condiment sambal oelek for its spicy bite.
With Jakarta quickly ascending as a vibrant cocktail city in Asia, St. Regis Bar Jakarta is staking a claim as one of its strongest proponents.
“The St. Regis Bar Jakarta has become the most sought-after destination in the city, where our international guests can indulge in a truly bespoke experience, elevating Jakarta’s position on the global cocktail and hospitality map,” says Oliver Keutzer, General Manager of The St. Regis Jakarta.
If you’re looking for an elevated bar experience in Jakarta – especially if you love live jazz – The St. Regis Bar Jakarta is the glamorous cocktail haunt you’re looking for.
