QT Singapore reimagines what a design-forward, five-star luxury boutique stay can mean in the heart of Singapore’s vibrant, gleaming Central Business District.

Think you’ve seen everything Singapore’s ultra-competitive luxury hotel scene has to offer? Think again. Singapore certainly doesn’t lack for top-tier hotels, but one of the newer openings, QT Singapore, brings a playful and irreverent spirit that’s not often found even in the best quirky indie boutique properties.

The first Southeast Asian outpost of Australia’s cult-favourite designer hotel chain QT Hotels & Resorts, QT Singapore opened its doors in September last year to little fanfare. Taking over the very distinctive neo-classical building along Robinson Road that most recently housed Hotel Telegraph — before that, it was SO/ Singapore — it has already made waves, landing a prized spot in TIME Magazine’s list of ‘World’s Greatest Places of 2025’.

It was the sole Singapore hotel to do so.

QT Singapore occupies what used to be Hotel Telegraph.

And with good reason. The four-storey heritage building’s new incarnation comes flush with QT Hotel’s signature playful yet plush design aesthetic, combining Art Deco opulence with colourful cinematic whimsy in equal abandon yet perfectly blending with the colonnades and arches of the historic structure.

You’re instantly transported into a whole new world of wonder and grandeur as soon as you step in. Designed by acclaimed Sydney design studio Nic Graham & Associates, you’re looking at an eccentric yet tastefully dramatic clash of colours (black, white, burnt orange, lipstick red), materials (lush velvet, vintage leather, travertine marble, terrazzo, and even rattan), as well as patterns (geometric, cubic). Oh, there are some indoor plants peppered all over too, because they can.

It’s not for everyone — your senses can get overloaded — but chances are the young contemporary urban traveller would highly approve.

Playful contemporary design in the hote's atrium.

Each of the 134 rooms and suites are similarly decked out. There are a total of eight room configurations, ranging from the cosy QT King to the sprawling Premier Suite, catered to different needs and budgets. We had the opportunity to stay at the Balcony Suite which, we are happy to report, is also its dog-friendly room type.

Yes, QT Singapore is pet-friendly. Its pet policy allows one dog of up to 20kg per room, offering dog-owners yet another staycation option in the heart of the city.

At 80sqm, the suite is well-sized and generously appointed. Unlike most suites, the bedroom and lounge area here are one, combined into an expansive space that, coupled with its high-vaulted ceiling, feels welcoming and not at all claustrophobic like some rooms can be. There’s plenty of room for a king-sized bed, sofa and coffee table — complete with ample comfy lounge chairs — in the lounge area. It even comes equipped with a proper sit-down desk with the requisite power points to hook up your laptop for work if you like.

The Balcony Suite is a sprawling suite that is pet-friendly,

On one flank of the room is a small balcony overlooking the street, perfect for enjoying your morning cuppa or a stiff evening drink as you watch the office drones stream past on the way to or from work. Just note the balcony parapet is only waist-high, so dogs should always be leashed and accompanied. The latter applies to children and drunk husbands too.

On the other side of the room is a massive ensuite. Indeed what catches your eye upon room entry is the ensuite’s oversized bathtub, which easily accommodates a raunchy honeymoon couple… and then some. Aside from the tub there are double sinks, a separate vanity area, and a large separate walk-in rain shower. Altogether the bathroom easily takes up half the entire suite.

QT Singapore also piles on the luxury with amenities that include a Dyson™ supersonic hairdryer and Corrale™ hair straightener so you can look your best for play, a Nespresso machine for that necessary daily java, and wireless Bose speakers in case you want to pipe in your own music. You control everything from lighting to the TV with an iPad.

Go to Cygnet Bar during Cygnet Hour.

As for facilities, there’s a small but well-equipped gym for the gym rat as well a decent-sized lap pool where the rooftop bar is. But it is the hotel’s flagship restaurant, Cygnet, that is its crown jewel. Headlined by award-winning New Zealand chef Sean Connolly, Cygnet is set to make its mark as a buzzy Manhattan-style steakhouse soon to be challenging for gastronomic honours and, cocktail hounds would be glad to learn, also home to a cutting-edge cocktail bar (the happy hour prices during its Cygnet Hour promotion draws an appreciative drinking crowd).

Dining options abound all around the hotel as well. For food-loving guests visiting from overseas, they can take a culinary deep-dive into Singapore’s vaunted hawker culture — with beloved favourites from chicken rice and satay to prawn noodles and nasi lemak, many of the Michelin minted — right next door at ever-popular Lau Pa Sat. Venture further afield and you’ll be spoilt for choice, from dining options that range the gamut of world cuisines to award-winning cocktail bars such as Sugarhall and Stay Gold Flamingo, or even party venues like COTU.

For intrepid urban adventurers, QT Singapore sits within walking distance to many of Singapore’s tourism hotspots, including the many cultural landmarks in Singapore’s civic and heritage districts of Marina Bay and Chinatown.

Verdict

Indeed, QT Singapore offers unparalleled convenience and accessibility to corporate and leisure travellers alike. Whether you’re here for a splashy weekend, a stylish business stopover, or simply a martini at sunset, QT Singapore delivers something few luxury hotels do: a sense of personality, and permission to play. We had high expectations for our stay, and QT Singapore amply delivered. Dog owners need apply.
