Tucked discreetly by the pool at Grand Hyatt Singapore, Oasis might just be the city’s most underrated alfresco indulgence — and its decadent BBQ Night Sharing Platter is the ultimate reason to pay attention.

Grand Hyatt Singapore is known for many a good dining establishment, ranging from longstanding Italian eatery Pete’s Place to the hotel’s signature Asian-centric buffet restaurant StraitsKitchen. But here’s a well-hidden gastronomic gem even the most epicurean of foodies may not be familiar with — Oasis.

And surprise, it’s a poolside restaurant. We’re usually not too enamoured with dining by the pool; out-of-shape hotel guests lounging on sun beds and children screaming as they play by the water don’t quite add the right kind of vibe for intimate dining or for aiding digestion.

While all-day dining Oasis offers everything from curated lunch sets to full a la carte menu — think signature grills and elevated local favourites — the one thing you must definitely come for?

Oasis offers outdoor poolside dining but also an indoor, air-conditioned area.

Its BBQ Night Sharing Platter.

Consider this. You’re having the rare night out. You don’t want to waste too much time poring over the menu. This platter has been carefully curated from its regular a la carte offerings so you get to try a bit of everything.

Done.

It even comes with starters. You get classic openers such as Oysters on Ice and Prawn Cocktail, and two salads — the Greek Salad with sheep’s milk feta and olives, and an Asian-inspired Oasis Garden Salad Bowl with ginger-lime dressing to trick one into feeling a little virtuous. But what you really want is to dig into the excellent Grilled Herbed Ciabatta slathered with garlic butter.

But then the main platter arrives. You can almost hear the plate groaning under the weight of the portions.

All the proteins and carbs you need

It’s a carnivore’s dream. There are perfectly seared cuts of Australian Bone-in Beef from Five Founders, a Queensland-based company committed to sustainably raised cattle; Australian Lamb from Roaring Forties Farms known for producing premium quality meats on their Tasmania and Southern Victoria farmlands; Italian Pork Sausage, and some Tamarind-Marinated Chicken Thigh.

If you’re into seafood? Juicy Herb-Marinated Black Tiger Prawns and moreish Sustainably Farmed Barramundi, both more than able to hold their own in competing for your attention.

To provide a smidgen of balance to all that protein, Oasis serves up Roasted New Potatoes with smoked salt, and Stir-Fried Vegetables

But that illusion of balance is easily shattered once dessert arrives. How do you say no to Cinnamon Sugar Donuts, Profiteroles with Passionfruit Curd and Chocolate Sauce, and Soft Serve Ice Cream? Your head will scream “No!”, but that “separate” dessert compartment in your stomach will cry “Yes!”.

So, yes it is.

Anyway you may just as well add on the optional alcoholic beverage package, which comes as 2.5 hours of free-flow drinks including prosecco, red, white and rose wines, and Grand Hyatt’s exclusive beer, Scotts Lager, on draught.

Because you may as well return home with stomachs full and heads light.

The BBQ Night Sharing Platter from Oasis at Grand Hyatt Singapore is available from 5.30pm to 9.00pm every evening at S$88++ per person, with the alcohol beverage package at an additional S$58++ per adult (add S$20++ for selected cocktails; S$30++ for Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut NV; S$40++ for Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut Rosé).
