Bar Jade recently unearthed a new cocktail collection, ‘The Spirit of Gemstones’, inviting invites guests on a journey as layered and luminous as the jewels that inspired it. In a land long celebrated for its precious stones — from imperial jade to fire-hued rubies — this ten-cocktail series draws from Vietnam’s rich gemological heritage to offer liquid expressions of beauty, transformation, and time.
“The Spirit of Gemstones”, as curated by resident mixologist Le Ngoc An and guided by Beverages Manager Vaibhav Karnwal, is divided into three acts: ‘Awaken’, ‘Ember’, and ‘Stillness’. Each cocktail — named after a gemstone — is crafted to reflect not only the symbolic qualities of its namesake but also a precise moment in mood, energy, and taste.
Cocktail creations range from fresh, vibrant compositions in ‘Awaken’ such as Agate, a herbal and dry twist on the White Negroni that glows yellow like one of its namesake semi-precious stone, or Brown Jasper, a layered take on the Espresso Martini using Vietnamese coffee.
Then there’s Coral, a clarified Bloody Mary bursting with savoury umami notes from its bacon-infused vodka, tomato juice, sea salt and chilli oil combination, as well as Rutile, which combines tequila and Ardbeg beneath a theatrical smoke bubble for a punchy tipple.
“Each cocktail is rooted in a meaningful story often cultural or elemental then reinterpreted with forward-thinking mixology,” shared Beverages Manager Vaibhav Karnwal. “We use techniques like edible garnishes like green edible rice paper, vegetable caviar or foam infusions to create an interactive, almost meditative drinking experience,” he added.
Much like the rare stones unearthed from Vietnam’s storied terrain, “The Spirit of Gemstones” is a sensory treasure — reflective, grounded, and full of luminous detail.
