As the broader luxury whisky market cools, The Artisanal Spirits Company makes a bold play for high-end collectors with Artisan Casks — a new private cask programme offering rare, aged single malts from some of Scotland’s most iconic distilleries.
The world of luxury whisky may be in its doldrums right now, but that’s not stopping The Artisanal Spirits Company from pushing its agenda of sourcing and introducing some of the best whiskies Scotland has to offer for well-heeled whisky connoisseurs and collectors. The parent company of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society recently launched Artisan Casks, an exclusive private cask programme that offers access to some of the rarest and most immaculate casks one can find on Scottish soil.
But this isn’t just a cask programme — it’s a private invitation into a rarefied world, one soaking in the best Scotch single malt. Prices start at £50,000 and soar to £600,000 depending on provenance and profile, with the inaugural lineup featuring aged casks from legendary distilleries including Macallan (1993), Bowmore (2004), Laphroaig (1998), Mortlach (1991), and Caol Ila (1992).
These aren’t your typical barrel picks. Each cask is individually assessed, nurtured and, where appropriate, re-racked for further evolution.
What makes them even rarer is that these casks are aged for at least 20 years old and are already of a quality to allow for immediate bottling, but also have the potential for additional maturation if preferred. Only a limited number of Artisan Casks will be released each year, which makes them as scarce as they are special.

Case in point: The Laphroaig 1998 Artisan Cask No. #151785, which spent 21 years in a refill bourbon hogshead before being transferred into a first-fill Spanish oak Oloroso cask from José y Miguel Martin. The result? A complex, peat-shrouded dram layered with umami, dried fruit and sherry richness — dark, brooding, and utterly compelling.
Beyond the liquid itself? Ownership entails entry into a network of rare whisky lovers and bespoke experiences — including privileged access to Scotland’s most storied distilleries, private bottlings, and exclusive events in whisky capitals such as New York and Dubai.
The Artisanal Spirits Company earlier unveiled its Artisan Casks initiative to Singapore-based collectors in Asia with a private showcase at the Presidential Villa at Raffles Sentosa Singapore.
