Bangkok’s love affair with sake deepens as Sake Week Thailand 2025 returns to the Thai capital this August, transforming the city into a hub of craft and culinary creativity over the beloved Japanese alcoholic beverage.
Bangkok, get ready to drink (more) sake. Sake Week Thailand is returning for its 2025 edition!
Now in its second year following a highly successful debut last year, the sake-centric festival is quickly growing into the country’s largest and most influential sake celebration and this year it is again set to play host to a sake selection that rivals even Japan’s own festivals.
Taking place at EM SKYE in EMSPHERE Bangkok from 29 to 31 August, Sake Week Thailand will showcase more than 70 premium sakes — the biggest collection ever presented in the country — alongside over 200 labels available for purchase.
This year’s theme? ‘The Art of Fermentation’.
The driving force behind Sake Week Thailand is Thanabhisitt Jirawongkraisorn (Gopp/AJ), founder of The Sake Merchant, who spearheaded the festival’s debut last year with a multimillion-baht investment. By uniting leading importers and fine-dining restaurants under one roof, he has effectively ignited Thailand’s sake scene and placed it firmly on the map for global connoisseurs.

More than just a tasting fair, Sake Week Thailand 2025 is designed as a platform for learning, networking, and cultural appreciation. Highlights include sake and food pairing workshops led by world-class sake experts, talks on fermentation blending tradition with science, entrepreneur-focused sessions around sake-driven business opportunities, as well as business matching between importers, restaurateurs, and local producers.
Then there’s Sake Week Thailand Sato Competition 2025, which shines an international spotlight on Thailand’s own rice wine heritage.
This year, the sake celebrations are set to expand with the support of major importers — Italasia, Cheeky Sake, and Tanawat Industrial — alongside 13 fine-dining partners such as award-winning Potong, Cross, Ginza Sushi Ichi, Denkushiforli, Kuma no Yakitori, Yamazato, and Michelin-starred Resonance.
Adding weight to the programme are some of the sake world’s most respected names that will be in attendance. They include Motohiro Okoshi, celebrated sommelier and founder of Logical Sake Pairing; Sean Ou, Head of Education at The Beverage Clique Academy SEA; Micky Chan, Sake Samurai and Chair of the HK Sake Federation; and Adrian Goh, Sake Samurai and Co-founder of Sake Matsuri Singapore. Their presence underscores Bangkok’s growing status as a serious sake capital.

For epicureans, the festivities also extend to two exclusive culinary collaborations. There’s the Resonance x Okoshi Special Dinner, with Michelin-starred Resonance’s Chef Shunsuke Shimomura teaming up with Okoshi Motohiro for an intimate sake-pairing dinner. With just 15 seats per session, this promises to be one of the season’s hottest tickets. Otherwise you have Okoshi x Ǎn Cơm, a cross-cultural Japanese-Vietnamese dining concept brought to Bangkok for one day only on 30 August. Four sessions priced at THB 4,500++ offer a rare chance to taste Okoshi’s visionary approach to pairing food with sake.
Sake Week Thailand 2025 is more than a festival — it is a stage where Japanese sake artistry, Thai hospitality, and culinary excellence converge. For enthusiasts and newcomers alike, it’s a chance to sip, savour, and deepen one’s understanding of sake while witnessing how fermentation connects cultures across Asia.
