Chatterbox, long synonymous with Singapore’s famous chicken rice dish, opens a breezier new chapter at Resorts World Sentosa with Chatterbox Café, where heritage comfort meets playful café culture and seafood indulgence.
Few names in Singapore dining carry the same weight of nostalgia as Chatterbox. Since 1971 it has hard carried the reputation for Singapore chicken rice on its shoulders; sure, there are many places across the Lion City for great chicken rice, but none served up the country’s iconic dish in an elevated hotel dining experience as it did in the now-defunct Mandarin Hotel in those early days.
Indeed its legendary Mandarin chicken rice has been a proud symbol of local culinary identity, a rite of passage for locals as well as a bucket list item for visitors.

Now, more than five decades later, it sees a new chapter with the opening of Chatterbox Café. Located in the recently-opened Weave premier lifestyle cluster within Resorts World Sentosa, the cafe concept feels lighter, more playful than its Hilton Singapore Orchard flagship.
The interiors balance polished modernity with relaxed tropical tones, befitting its pleasure resort address. With both indoor and pet-friendly al fresco seating, it’s an approachable space for tourists and locals alike — one that invites conversation and convivial family meals. The experience is further punctuated with lighthearted touches, like Archibald the mascot.
He’s a chicken of course, and has his own merchandise line in case you want to take home a little bit of Chatterbox Café with you.

The menu still safeguards Chatterbox’s essentials. The Mandarin Chicken Rice remains the centrepiece, featuring perfectly poached white chicken, fluffy flavourful rice, soup, and the classic trio of sauces — sticky sweet dark soy, ginger, and of course, chilli.
But instead of simply anchoring itself to Singapore’s national dish, this outlet allows space for expanded zichar-style seafood offerings and other local favourites such as char kway teow, chicken curry and bak kut teh, giving diners more reasons to drop in.
Like the other national dish, the limited-time Chilli Crab. Unapologetically bold and messy, this is fleshy Sri Lankan crab steeped in a tomato-based sauce with a warming, slow-building spice. Next month, we hear, it’ll expand to other signatures such as Black Pepper Crab, Golden Fragrance “Kam Heong” Crab, and wok-fired Sambal Tiger Prawns.

Then there’s the surprisingly thoughtful kueh selection at Chatterbox Café, even if they don’t open for tea. Handcrafted daily, the sago bandung and sarang semut are standouts, colourful in presentation yet restrained in sweetness, presented in an assortment platter that makes for a delightfully sweet end to any meal.
By expanding beyond its famous chicken rice into sweets, seafood, and café culture — along with a resort location — this is Chatterbox looking towards its future, ensuring that its name remain as relevant to the new generation as it was in the 1970s. For those who have grown up with the brand, this is comfort dining with refreshed spirit; for first-time visitors, it’s a gateway to Singapore’s culinary story, told with polish and pride.
