The first-ever Agave Festival Singapore lands this September, bringing tequila, mezcal, cocuy, and more to Chimichanga VivoCity for an afternoon of tastings, cocktails, and cultural discovery.
Lovers of tequila, mezcal and other agave-based spirits, there’s finally a festival in Singapore for you. Mexican restaurant group Chimichanga will be hosting its first-ever Agave Festival Singapore on 27 September 2025, the Lion City’s first dedicated celebration of the storied plant and its spirits. Taking place at Chimichanga’s VivoCity outlet from 2pm to 5.30pm, this one-day festival is a spirited immersion into tequila, mezcal, cocuy, and beyond.
Supported by the embassies of Mexico and Venezuela, alongside the Mexico–Singapore Chamber of Commerce, the festival will spotlight agave’s heritage and craftsmanship with tastings, cocktails, curated bites, and expert-led talks. Guests will get the opportunity to explore over 30 types of agave spirits from houses such as Na’Guará Cocuy de Penca, Don Ramón, Patrón, Mala Idea Mezcal, Motel Mezcal, Machetazo, and La Cofradía, among others.
One of the festival’s highlights is the Asian debut of Cocuy, a rare artisanal spirit from Venezuela’s Lara State that’s distilled from the wild agave cocui Trelease. Produced by the fourth-generation Na’Guará Cocuy distillery, Cocuy is considered Venezuela’s national cultural patrimony and is prized for its smooth, herbaceous character. To mark its arrival, Chimichanga and Na’Guará Cocuy will unveil an exclusive SG60 edition: only 60 hand-blown glass bottles, available solely at Chimichanga.
Chimichanga’s bar programme will also add another dimension to the festival with six inventive Margarita flavours alongside other agave-forward cocktails.
As for food, festival goers can expect Chimichanga to serve up Mexico- and Venezuela-inspired bites such as Passion Fruit Tres Leches and Ceviche de Pescado alongside its usual favourites.
We’ve seen how agave-based spirits have exploded in popularity across the world over the past decade, growing beyond their traditional markets through quality sips and inventive cocktails that appeal to a wider consumer base. While tequila and mezcal are already beloved in Singapore’s cocktail culture, Agave Festival Singapore 2025 widens the conversation — from introducing Cocuy for the first time in Asia and spotlighting artisanal producers to allow discerning drinkers to deepen their appreciation for the category.
For one spirited afternoon, Chimichanga invites Singapore to discover why agave is more than just a plant — it is a culture, a heritage, and now, a movement.
Tickets for Agave Festival Singapore 2025 are priced at S$68 for one or S$120 for a pair (pre-sale), or S$80 each at the door. Each tickets accords the holder three hours of unlimited agave spirits tasting, three hours of unlimited Margaritas and cocktails, a S$39 agave bottle voucher, and a S$10 food voucher.
