Austrian cuisine may be one of Europe’s best-kept culinary secrets, but Andaz Singapore’s Austrian Gourmet Week 2025 is setting out to change that — with a weeklong celebration of Burgenland flavours, Viennese café culture, and the Slow Food artistry of Chef Max Stiegl.
Austrian cuisine doesn’t often get the limelight in Asia’s dining circuit, compared its more illustrious European cousins from, say, France, Spain or Italy. But an unlikely champion, Andaz Singapore, will be shining the spotlight on the dining culture of that landlocked Central European country right here in Singapore when its annual Austrian Gourmet Week, returns for its 2025 edition later this month.
Happening from 27 October to 3 November 2025, Austrian Gourmet Week will see the hotel once again partner the Austrian Embassy Singapore to showcase the country’s rich, often-overlooked culinary heritage — one that stretches from the verdant plains of Burgenland to the café-lined boulevards of Vienna.
For most diners, Austria’s gastronomic identity is a mystery shrouded behind the fame of its neighbours. French finesse, Italian romance, and German precision tend to hog the global culinary stage. Yet Austria quietly bridges them all, blending alpine heartiness with Central European elegance. Think schnitzels crisp as autumn air, dumplings perfumed with apricots, and coffee that’s less about slugging caffeine than facilitating meaningful conversation.

And it’s this very depth that Andaz Singapore aims to reveal.
This year’s edition again stars Chef Max Stiegl, the maverick behind the acclaimed Gut Purbach restaurant in Burgenland and a flag-bearer of the Slow Food movement. As he did when he first introduced to Singapore his farm-to-table dining and sustainable cooking practices as applied to traditional Austrian cooking back in 2023, Chef Stiegel will present an à la carte and three-course menu at Andaz Singapore’s flagship steakhouse 665°F that reimagines Austria’s soul food for modern palates. Expect refined classics such as Kalbs-Cordon Bleu with champagne ham and truffle brie, Schwammerl-Rostbraten with chanterelles and mustard-tarragon gravy, and the iconic Wiener Schnitzel vom Kalb served with herb-dusted potatoes. Desserts are an ode to nostalgia — from Kaiserschmarrn mit Apfelmus, those caramelised pancake folds beloved of emperors, to the glossy perfection of the iconic Viennese dessert that is Sacher Torte.

Unlike previous editions, Austrian Gourmet Week this year will also extend to Alley on 25, the hotel’s cafe lounge. Here afternoons transformed into a love letter to Vienna’s café culture, where the ritual of coffee and cake borders on religion. Running from 27 October to 30 November, “An Afternoon in Vienna” pairs indulgent pastries — including Purbacher Cremeschnitte, Wiener Malakoff-Torte, and Topfen Golatschen — with the city’s signature brews: Wiener Melange, Einspänner, and the rustic Häferlkaffee. Here’s where you soak in the kind of slow, soulful interlude that reminds you why the Viennese invented the word gemütlichkeit — that untranslatable sense of cosy contentment.
For those looking to experience Austrian gastronomy for the first time, Austrian Gourmet Week offers diners the opportunity to linger, to savour, and to see the country’s culinary pride on the plate. And not as an afterthought of Europe, but as its quiet, elegant heart — one fork of pastry and a sip of coffee at a time.
